When clouds they come, and clouds they go
And snowflakes dance upon the snow
And frosty freezes; cold winds blow
I like to change the subject randomly
There was a hippopotamus, who had a sore big toe
And if he ever walked somewhere, he had to go quite slow
But swimming in the river, he could float down with the flow
And annoy people by writing poems that don't rhyme.
If I were a curtain
I'd hang around a lot
And if nobody was around
I'd talk to plants in pots
And maybe they would talk to me
And maybe they would not
But I'd still have to hang around you see
For that, is a curtain's lot
I should like to walk
Upon the wall
As if it were the floor
But if I did
I must beware
Of falling through a door
I'd take a stroll
'Pon building walls
All about the town
And people down below
Would yell
"You'll hurt yourself! Get down!"
But I would laugh
And tip my hat
And bid them all "Good Day"
And lightly leap
To another wall
To meander on my way
A really good pun gives one a feeling that is much like someone scraping fingernails down a chalkboard.
I am a fish
I am a thesis
I am a T-H-E-S-I-S
I am a thesis fish
I swim in the intrica-sea
I don't swim very well
Because I have been de-tailed
If my teddy bear could talk
I wonder what he'd utter?
Would he say I had bad breath?
Or that I am a nutter
Would he wink his scratched glass eye
And whisper in my ear
"I know all your deepest, darkest secrets,
and all that you hold dear.
You see, you say a lot of things
When you are asleep
And even sometimes when you're still awake
and should be counting sheep."
Would my teddy hold me ransom?
Do bears blackmail their boys?
Or would he laugh and smile and say
"Don't worry,
It's OK,
I'll never tell the toys."
